Communications Director POSITION DESCRIPTION The Communications Specialist is responsible for assisting with the coordination of the city's overall communication efforts.
This position will assist with print and online publications, website maintenance, social media and public relations.
Work is evaluated based upon periodic performance reviews.
Given the capacity of the role, the Communications Specialist will be able to flex between a hybrid and onsite schedule.
JOB DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Assists with writing, editing, proofreading and/or design of city publications including print and electronic newsletters, brochures, calendar, press releases, electronic alert messages, crime reports, etc.
Assists with monitoring, updating and creating content for the city's website.
Assists with distributing information in a timely, accurate and coordinated manner.
Plans and executes social media strategies, creating and publishing content to a variety of platforms, and interacting with audiences.
Assists with social media scheduling, writing, posting and monitoring (i.
e.
Twitter, Facebook, Instagram).
Maintains updated contact lists for local and regional news media organizations.
Stays informed on overall city initiatives, programs and projects.
Performs other duties as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Media Relations, Journalism or a related field.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Social media strategies and Microsoft Office Suite.
Municipal, graphic design and website editing knowledge preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in business communications.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to successfully work independently and in a team environment.
Ability to multi-task with complex administrative functions.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
